Gwen Stefani has reportedly been struggling with her husband Blake Shelton’s love for hunting, despite their strong relationship. A source revealed to Life & Style magazine that Stefani, a passionate animal rights advocate and long-time vegan, finds it difficult to reconcile Shelton’s hobby with her beliefs.
“They agreed to disagree about his hunting back when they first got together,” shared an insider. However, this hasn’t made things any easier for Stefani. “That doesn’t mean it’s an easy thing for Gwen to handle,” the source added.
According to the insider, Stefani has tried to get Shelton to see things from her perspective, but the country singer refuses to budge. “She’s a huge animal rights person, and has been mostly vegan for a long time. So, it’s pretty hard to have her husband out there killing animals for a good time,” they explained.
Despite her efforts, Shelton remains steadfast in his position. “It’s not something he will ever back down on,” the source said, adding, “When he thinks he’s in the right about something, he won’t shut up about it.”
Friends of the couple are beginning to wonder how such differing views will affect their long-term relationship. “She’s always said it won’t be a deal breaker for her, but friends are seriously questioning how such opposites can go the distance,” the insider noted.
What’s more, it appears that Shelton isn’t shy about his hobby, even though it bothers Stefani. “He seems to get a kick out of rubbing it in her face, even though he knows it makes her sick to her stomach,” the source mentioned.
Despite the tension over Shelton’s hunting, the couple remains deeply in love. A source recently told the magazine that three years into their marriage, they’re still “more in love than ever.”
“Gwen and Blake are doing amazing… It feels surreal because the time has flown by,” the insider added. While their differing views on hunting continue to be a challenge, their bond remains strong for now.
