A 90 Day Fiancé cast member, Danielle, is under fire for launching a fundraiser to support her nursing career, just days after fellow castmate Michael Ilesanmi raised over $52,000 on GoFundMe. Michael, who had gone missing from Angela Deem’s home in February 2024, later revealed he fled due to fears for his safety. He moved to Texas, where Angela filed for an annulment of their marriage. To cover legal fees, Michael set up a fundraiser, hoping to raise $25,000, but his campaign quickly surpassed that amount.
Following Michael’s success, Danielle took to Instagram on September 12, 2024, to share a link to her own fundraiser on Spotfund. In her post, she wrote, “If you can donate it will be greatly appreciated.” She disabled the comments on her post, but fans quickly expressed their disappointment on other platforms. Blogger 90dayfianceupdate reposted Danielle’s request, prompting a wave of criticism. One fan, Aimeewyo, commented, “Pay for your own college like everybody else,” while another user, C_blevovoxo, joked, “Let me pay your school loans when I can’t even pay my own.” Others, like vintage1beauty, pointed out the trend of franchise stars seeking financial help, writing, “Michael had his GoFundMe, now watch others from the franchise try to cash in, smh.”
Danielle’s goal on Spotfund is $2,400, and as of now, she has raised $350 from nine donors. In her fundraiser description, Danielle explained that she is in the “final stretch” of her journey to becoming a Registered Nurse (RN) and needs the money to complete her tuition payments, allowing her to focus on her studies and graduate by November 2024. Despite her passion for nursing, fans aren’t eager to help, arguing that Danielle could easily fund her education by getting a job or applying for scholarships. Many were quick to point out that they paid for their own education, often struggling with student loans themselves.
Critics accused Danielle of entitlement, with some suggesting that she has mismanaged her finances. Although she is already a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN), Danielle’s request for fans to fund her transition to RN has rubbed viewers the wrong way. Her past legal troubles, including charges for felony theft and fraud, have further fueled the backlash. Though she was later convicted of misdemeanor theft after admitting to using someone else’s credit card by mistake, fans have not forgotten her history.
While Danielle’s request may not be as egregious as the infamous case of Mary Demasu-ay, who faked having cancer to collect donations, fans still feel that asking them to pay for her tuition crosses a line. Despite her determination to complete her education, Danielle’s financial plea has left a bad taste in the mouths of many viewers.
