Elon Musk’s girlfriend denied claims he is “destroying the Earth” – but did admit he can be “immature” on Twitter.
Singer Grimes responded to comments from fans on social media platform TikTok after she posted a new music video.
One said: “Grimesss. How are you doing this and actively sleeping with the man who (is) literally destroying the planet and humanity.”
The musician responded: “How is he doing these things? His whole career is about making travel-house power etc sustainable and green.”
But after another TikTok user asked Grimes to confirm whether her 49-year-old partner was not “a men’s rights activist”, she said: “He’s not.
“Def(initely) he’s been very immature at points on Twitter. I wish his actions would match his words, but for most people I wish their words would match their actions haha.”
Grimes, 33, and Mr Musk have been together since 2018 and they share a son who was born in May 2020.
After Tesla shares dipped Mr Musk is now no longer the world’s richest man, slipping down to third place on Forbes’ real-time billionaire’s list, behind Amazon founder and rival Jeff Bezos and French businessman Bernard Arnault.
Mr Musk and Mr Bezos have recently found themselves at loggerheads after the former’s SpaceX beat the latter’s Blue Origin to a lucrative NASA contract for a Moon lander for $2.9 million (£2.09 million).
Mr Musk then trolled his rival on Twitter, joking that he “can’t get it up (to orbit)”, while Blue Origin lodged a 50-page protest of the decision with federal auditors at the Government Accountability Office.
The company argued that NASA misjudged Blue Origin’s proposal in the three-way competition to build the new Moon lander, which also involved a bid from the Alabama-based defence firm Dynetics.
“It’s really atypical for NASA to make these kinds of errors,” Bob Smith, chief executive of Blue Origin, said.
