In a shocking revelation, Collin Gosselin, one of the children from the hit TLC show Jon & Kate Plus 8, has accused his mother, Kate Gosselin, of severe abuse during his childhood. In an emotional interview with The U.S. Sun, Collin, now 20, claimed that Kate zip-tied his hands and feet and locked him in a specially-built basement room with a bolted door, leaving him for hours in the dark.
“It was like a containment room, literally,” Collin said, describing how he was left in the room multiple times with only a mattress on the floor and monitored by cameras. The allegations come just weeks after TLC announced it would re-air old episodes of the show, 13 years after its abrupt cancellation.
Collin also accused his mother of sending him to a psychiatric facility despite no documented mental health issues. He claimed Kate’s physically abusive behavior was the reason he preferred being in the facility. During the interview, Collin grew emotional while reading a note he’d written to his father, Jon Gosselin, at the time, begging to be “saved” from the institution.
Kate Gosselin has previously denied the allegations, posting on Instagram in 2023 that Collin had “attacks/outbursts” and received psychiatric diagnoses that led to his placement in the facility. However, Collin claims an independent doctor found no evidence of the diagnoses his mother mentioned.
Jon Gosselin, who eventually gained custody of Collin and his sister Hannah, supported his son’s claims, adding that Hannah confirmed the abuse allegations and shared details after they were in Jon’s care.
The allegations have reignited controversy around the Gosselin family, with Collin expressing how his mother led him to believe “nobody would believe” his story.
