Chrissy Teigen recently addressed her followers’ concerns about her son, Miles, after they noticed an insulin monitor in a photo she shared from the 2024 Paris Olympics. In an emotional Instagram post, Teigen revealed that six-year-old Miles has been diagnosed with type 1 diabetes.
“A lot of you noticed something a little special about a photo I posted a few days ago — Luna, Miles, and I celebrating Simone and team USA,” Teigen began her update. Fans had spotted the diabetes monitor on Miles as he held up a sign in the image, leading to an outpouring of support from the community. “Miles had his arm up, and soooo many of you reached out to say the most beautiful and incredible words I have ever witnessed on this platform,” Teigen expressed.
The revelation came after a troubling few weeks for the family. Teigen shared that Miles had been suffering from “a terrible case of shigella, an intestinal infection caused by bacteria in food or water.” It was during this time that further tests led to his diabetes diagnosis.
“Last night we gave him his first shot of insulin and here we go! A different, new world for us and we are certainly learning so much on the fly,” Teigen disclosed, marking the beginning of a new chapter in their lives.
The model and cookbook author took a moment to express her gratitude towards her followers for their overwhelming support and kindness. “This post is to thank you so much for your kindness,” she wrote, touched by the encouragement and love her family received during this challenging time.
Teigen and her husband, musician John Legend, are parents to four children: Miles, Luna, Esti, and Wren. As they navigate this new reality, Teigen’s openness about her son’s health struggles highlights the challenges and adjustments families face when managing chronic conditions like diabetes. The support from her online community not only underscores the importance of awareness but also the compassion that can be found even in large, often impersonal platforms like social media.
