Beyonce Knowles donned a headache-inducing Givenchy gown teamed with matching thigh-high boots and gloves to make her dramatic entrance at the Met Ball in New York Monday. The 31-year-old pop diva served as honorary chairperson for this year’s Costume Institute Gala celebrating Punk: Chaos to Couture – running through August 11. The bottle blonde desperately needed to touch up her dark roots and did nothing to ‘edge up’ her usual pretty, minimal make-up.
The Bootylicious hitmaker appeared top-heavy in the leather strapless bustier and even wore gold gloves featuring the same gawdy print. Beyonce also donned a custom-designed Givenchy by fellow chairperson Riccardo Tisci the previous year. The 16-time Grammy winner was joined on the red carpet by her little sister Solange, rocking a massive Afro. The 26-year-old singer looked even less punk in her blue Kenzo dress with an Edie Parker clutch.
Last Saturday, Queen Bey invited a toddler onstage with while she crooned Irreplaceable at London’s O2 Arena. She and husband Jay-Z are proud parents to their 16-month-old daughter Blue Ivy. ‘I would like more children,’ Beyonce recently said on Good Morning America. ‘I think my daughter needs some company. I definitely love being big sister.’ The Vogue cover girl caused heaps of controversy after celebrating her fifth wedding anniversary with a holiday to Communist country, Cuba.
‘It was actually quite shocking,’ Beyonce told ABC News of the uproar. ‘You know, it was such a beautiful trip. I met some incredible children. I visited some incredible entrepreneurs. And it was really, it was really educational for me. I learned so much about so many people and the country.’ The Crazy in Love songstress is currently in the midst of The Mrs. Carter Show World Tour, which ends in Brooklyn on May 29.
Her fifth studio album hits shelves later this year, but she’s already teased snippets from Bow Down/I Been On, Grown Woman (for a Pepsi advert), and Standing on the Sun (for a H&M advert). Knowles will also provide her award-winning voice for the animated feature, Epic, due out May 24.
