Former Teen Mom star Catelynn Lowell has opened up about her struggles with the adoption process, sharing her frustrations after being cut off from contacting the adoptive parents of her firstborn, Carly Davis. Lowell, who gave Carly up for adoption in 2009 on 16 and Pregnant, revealed on Instagram that Brandon and Teresa Davis, Carly’s adoptive parents, have stopped responding to her messages for months, leaving her feeling powerless, according to People.
In a series of Instagram stories, Lowell shared a screen recording of the ghosted messages and expressed her deep disappointment. “It’s unfair to Carly and her siblings, Novalee, Vaeda, and Rya,” she said, referring to the children she shares with her husband, Tyler Baltierra. The reality star emphasized that the adoption process leaves biological parents with little control, pouring out her emotions:
“I will just never understand how you say that you ‘love’ us and will always be ‘blessed’ for us… BUT you can’t take TWO days out of your entire year to just meet up for dinner and do a park or something small?”
Although Lowell expressed frustration, she was clear that she wasn’t trying to “put [the Davises] on blast.” She voiced her gratitude for everything Carly’s adoptive parents have done but also expressed concern that cutting off her biological family might not be beneficial for Carly. Despite the tension, she affirmed that she fully supports Carly’s love for her adoptive family.
This is not the first time Lowell has spoken out about the adoption process. Back in May 2024, she took to Instagram to share her disappointment over missed visits with Carly, highlighting how she and Baltierra were more than willing to travel if needed. “We chose this path, but it’s still painful,” Lowell said at the time.
