Aubrey O’Day, former member of Sean “Diddy” Combs’ girl group Danity Kane, has shared her reaction following the rapper’s recent arrest. Speaking to TMZ, O’Day expressed her disbelief, saying, “I never thought I would see this day.”
Reflecting on her time working with Combs, O’Day admitted, “We all buried this inside of us in order to be able to keep going. And not just me, but victims you don’t even know yet.” Her words resonated with many, as she alluded to the deep emotional scars carried by those who had experienced trauma in the music industry.
“We are all processing what that type of vindication can actually feel like now,” O’Day continued. “Every conversation I’ve had with victims last night has been beyond moving on all levels.”
Shortly after the news of Combs’ arrest broke, O’Day took to Instagram to express her thoughts in a heartfelt post. “The purpose of justice is to prove an ending and allow us the space to create a new chapter,” she wrote on her Instagram Story. She went on to say, “Women never get this. I feel validated. Today is a win for women all over the world, not just me. Things are finally changing.”
Sean “Diddy” Combs was arrested on September 16 at the Park Hyatt Hotel in New York following the unsealing of a federal indictment. According to documents obtained by NBC News, Combs is accused of having “threatened and coerced women and others around him to fulfill his sexual desires.”
In response to the charges, Combs’ attorney, Marc Agnifilo, urged the public to “reserve your judgment until you have all the facts.” Speaking outside the New York courtroom on September 17, Agnifilo stated, “Sean came to New York to basically engage the court system and start the case, and it will start today. He’s going to plead not guilty.”
“Sean is going to fight this with all of his energy and all of his might and the full confidence of his lawyers,” Agnifilo added, expressing confidence in his client’s defense.
As the case unfolds, O’Day’s comments reflect a broader sentiment shared by women around the world who feel empowered by seeing high-profile individuals held accountable for their actions.
The purpose of Justice is to provide an ending and allow us the space to create a new chapter. Women never get this. I feel validated. Today is a win for women all over the world, not just me.
