The 28-year-old unveiled Crush by Rihanna, the second perfume in her namesake RiRi Collection, on Tuesday (14Jun16), revealing the new product is a “mysteriously sexy and provocative scent”. The star’s latest fragrance is “undeniably fun” with a “feminine twist” according to an official statement, and includes sensual woody notes which have been paired with red fruits and pink musks to create a perfume which “feels empowering, strong, confident, and unapologetic”.

The Crush bottle has been designed by Rihanna, and takes its influence from the original RiRi container, with a view to combining luxury and femininity. The Barbadian beauty released her last fragrance, Riri by Rihanna, a year ago (15), four years after her debut fragrance, Reb’l Fleur. Further additions to her range include Rebelle, which was released in February 2012, with Nude following that November. Her fourth scent, Rogue, made its debut in September, 2013 before the star branched out into men’s fragrance and released a cologne, Rogue Man, in September, 2014.

Her step into aftershaves was also a big success, and Donald Loftus, president of Parlux Fragrances, which is the licensee company behind her scent products, previously revealed why Rihanna decided to branch out into the world of cologne. “The whole men’s category for us is trending very well,” he told WWD. “(Creating a men’s scent) has been something Rihanna has wanted to do since the beginning. “Of the current pop icons, Rihanna has had some really long-term success (in fragrance). That success has translated across the ocean. So her international following is huge, and that’s not always the case with celebrities.” Crush by Rihanna will be available at Macy’s, and other retailers from August (16) and is priced from $36-$60 with a rollerball version costing $20.
