Darius Rucker has opened up about the real reason behind his split from estranged wife Beth Leonard, revealing the pivotal moment that led to their separation. He continued, recalling the moment Beth told him it was time to end their relationship: “The night she just said to me, ‘It’s time to quit,’ in her very colorful way, I realized it was time to quit. That day, I called the band, I got my own bus, I said, ‘This is over for me.’ It was over because I respected her and I respected my family”, reported by Billboard.

The 58-year-old musician admitted that the decision was difficult but ultimately necessary for his personal growth. “I just wanted to be a better person.”

Darius also shared that despite their separation, he still holds immense love and admiration for Beth. “She’s so wonderful, she’s still an amazing human, amazing person. I love her so much,” he said. “But I was just, a rockstar, and I lived that life.”
