Meghan Markle reportedly told a group of girls that she was “one of the most bullied people in the world,” a remark that has left royal experts puzzled. Larissa May, founder of the nonprofit #HalfTheStory, shared details of a personal conversation Meghan had with teens during a visit to Girls Inc. in Santa Barbara, California, on October 2, according to Vanity Fair. May recalled, “We did an activity where we talked through a bunch of scenarios, and Meghan talked about being one of the most bullied people in the world.”

However, Meghan’s comment has drawn mixed reactions, especially given her own history with bullying accusations. Christopher Andersen, author of The King, suggested that while Meghan has faced harsh criticism, some of which is unwarranted, her remarks may backfire. “If Meghan feels unfairly targeted, she probably has every right to. But is it wise for someone who has been described as a workplace bully… to complain that she is a victim of bullying?” Andersen noted, warning that her complaints could come off as “egocentric whining.”

The bullying allegations against Meghan emerged in 2021, when Buckingham Palace launched an investigation following reports that Meghan had driven out two personal assistants and humiliated staff members during her time at Kensington Palace. Though Meghan’s legal team denied the accusations, the investigation results were not made public, leaving lingering uncertainty.

Kinsey Schofield, host of the To Di For Daily podcast, remarked that Meghan’s focus on bullying might unintentionally bring more attention to the accusations against her. Schofield explained that the royal family prefers a different approach, elevating causes by letting others share their stories. “By continuing to draw attention to bullying, she is only attracting more attention to her own bullying accusations,” Schofield told Fox News Digital.

Hilary Fordwich, a British royals expert, echoed these sentiments, saying Meghan’s goal should have been to offer support rather than put the spotlight on herself. She warned that the royal family likely sees this as “another attention-seeking attempt.”

Despite these criticisms, Meghan has remained open about her personal experiences with online bullying, stating in a 2023 interview, “When you’ve been through any level of pain or trauma… part of our healing journey is being able to be really open about it.” However, experts believe that Meghan’s continued focus on her own struggles could risk further scrutiny and accusations of hypocrisy.
