A woman in Mount Olivet, Kentucky, is facing multiple charges after state police discovered a dismembered body, believed to be her mother, outside their home. The gruesome discovery was made on Wednesday afternoon by a contractor who called Kentucky State Police after going to the property for routine work, told Fox News.

The body is thought to be that of 58-year-old Trudy Fields. The contractor reported that when he arrived at the house, no one answered the door. He noticed drag marks in the grass and followed them, eventually finding several blood-stained items and a dismembered body. He also saw a pile of hair, which he believed belonged to Trudy Fields.

Kentucky State Police soon arrived at the Brierly Ridge Road property and made a shocking discovery inside the house. According to authorities, human body parts were found in a pot inside the oven, adding to the horror of the case that has rocked the small town.

Jackie McLaughlin, a local resident, expressed the community’s disbelief: “Around here, you hear of certain people, domestic violence cases, and stuff like that, but you’ve never heard of something so awful. When I first heard about it, I was extremely shocked. Everyone was shocked. No one could believe that something like this could happen this close.”

The contractor told police that he had seen Trudy Fields and her 32-year-old daughter, Torilena Fields, just a day earlier. He noted that Torilena had been “confrontational” during their last interaction, and they were the only people at the house.

Kentucky State Police arrived to find Torilena at the residence, refusing to leave. After deploying tear gas, officers arrested her. She appeared to have blood on her face, hands, and clothing. During questioning, Torilena claimed she had been “casting spells” when the body was discovered.

Torilena Fields has been charged with obstructing governmental operations, tampering with physical evidence, and abuse of a corpse. She is currently being held at the Bourbon County Regional Jail and is expected to appear in court on Monday.

The case has left the tight-knit community of Mount Olivet reeling. “I think that’s why everyone was really shocked about it because you don’t hear about that in small towns like this. It’s usually big cities,” McLaughlin added.

A medical examiner is scheduled to perform an autopsy on Trudy Fields to confirm her identity and the cause of death.
