An 18-year-old Canadian woman, Sarah Badshaw, was arrested after being caught on a doorbell camera pretending to show interest in a Porsche before stealing it and running over the car’s owner in the driveway. The incident, which took place in Mississauga on September 6, has led to multiple charges against Badshaw, including dangerous operation causing bodily harm, theft of a motor vehicle, and driving without a license, according to Peel Regional Police.
Police say the incident occurred around 2 p.m. near Winston Churchill Boulevard and Eglinton Avenue. The victim had been showing the Porsche to Badshaw when she asked to view the interior of the vehicle. However, once inside the car, she reversed suddenly, locking the doors and fleeing the scene. As she sped away, she ran over the vehicle’s owner, dragging him into the street.
Video footage captured by a doorbell camera shows the victim exiting the passenger side and walking around to the driver’s side in an attempt to regain control of the car. As the victim reached for the handle, the suspect quickly backed out of the driveway, hitting him in the process. The man was left injured, sustaining injuries to his elbow, hands, and legs, requiring medical attention.
Peel Regional Police revealed that an accomplice, who was parked nearby in a grey Bentley Bentayga, was also involved in the theft. The stolen Porsche was later found abandoned in Mississauga on September 11, just days after the incident.
Badshaw, who turned herself in to police, faces additional charges from other investigations. According to Peel Regional Police, she has a history of fraud-related offenses in the region and is also wanted by other law enforcement agencies in the Greater Toronto Area for separate cases.
The brazen theft has sparked local outrage, and authorities are continuing their investigations into Badshaw’s other criminal activities. Despite her arrest, police are still working to track down her accomplice. The incident highlights the dangers of vehicle theft and the growing trend of criminals using seemingly innocent methods to gain access to high-end cars.
