Outrage erupted for a Georgia family after Avishaye Daniels and Daman Bell discovered that their 6-year-old daughter, Aylah, spent nearly three hours at school without wearing her shorts. What began as a routine school day last Friday turned into a shocking ordeal when Aylah returned home fully dressed in her T-shirt, socks, and shoes—but missing the shorts she left with.

“I was mad, but I was more shocked than anything,” Aylah’s mother, Avishaye, told The Mirror. The revelation left both parents furious as they questioned how their young daughter could go unnoticed by school staff for hours in just a T-shirt and underwear. “How can you look over my 6-year-old daughter in just a T-shirt and panties, socks, and shoes for three hours?” Aylah’s father, Daman, demanded to know.

School officials, however, offered an explanation for the incident. That day, Baker County Schools hosted a chalk party where students’ clothes were expected to get messy. Aylah’s parents were informed ahead of time and sent a spare shirt for their daughter. According to school Principal Jeff Henderson, after the party, Aylah forgot to put her shorts back on when she changed. Her teacher didn’t realize she was without pants due to the length of her T-shirt, which reportedly extended to her knees.

“We’ve never had this happen before,” Henderson explained, emphasizing that Aylah was not exposed or inappropriately dressed throughout the day. “Her shirt was long. It went almost to her knee, and she was not fully exposed or anything like that,” he added.

Still, the incident has prompted an investigation. School officials, along with the Baker County Sheriff’s Office, are reviewing security footage to ensure Aylah’s safety while she was without her shorts. Principal Henderson stressed the importance of student safety, saying, “It’s a big learning experience for everyone… It was never intentional—no way, shape, or form would this ever happen.”

Aylah’s parents remain unconvinced and are waiting for further updates from the school. They continue to voice their concerns, determined to ensure such an oversight never happens again. School administrators have since apologized and promised to implement measures to prevent similar incidents in the future.
