Prince Harry has reportedly found a “father figure” in renowned Hollywood music producer and film composer David Foster, as sources close to the royal reveal, via The New York Post. This development comes as Harry remains estranged from his biological father, King Charles III, following his and Meghan Markle’s departure from royal duties in 2020.
According to The Times, Foster has become a significant source of support for Harry, who now frequently turns to the 16-time Grammy winner for advice. The two live near each other in the Montecito neighborhood, where their bond has deepened over time. Foster’s wife, actress Katharine McPhee, has described their relationship as “beautiful,” noting that the pair are “very much like father and son.”
“My husband has a really, really beautiful relationship with Harry. They’re so cute,” McPhee shared, highlighting the closeness between the Duke of Sussex and Foster.
Foster’s relationship with the Sussexes has grown stronger since their move to the United States. He played a crucial role in helping them secure a place to stay in Canada, a luxury $14.1 million rental home in Victoria before they settled in California. Reflecting on his assistance in 2020, Foster told the Daily Mail, “I was just happy through my friend to facilitate what I could for them, and it looked like they had a great rest. They are a young modern family. I’m sure they want to balance their commitment to the crown and be a 2020 family.”
Despite this newfound support, Harry’s relationship with King Charles remains strained. According to People Magazine, Harry has struggled to reach his father since his February visit to the UK following the monarch’s health diagnosis. A friend of the duke revealed, “His calls go unanswered. He has tried to reach out about the king’s health, but those calls go unanswered too.”
Harry’s attempts to meet with his father during a May visit for the Invictus Games’ 10th anniversary were unsuccessful, reportedly due to the king being occupied with other matters. However, insiders suggest that unresolved security concerns may have played a role in the lack of communication. Harry has been seeking his father’s intervention in addressing these concerns, particularly regarding the safety of Meghan and their children.
In a new ITV documentary, Harry expressed his fears about the dangers his family faces, stating, “All it takes is one lone actor” for harm to be done. Meanwhile, King Charles is reportedly willing to forgive Harry after receiving counsel from spiritual leaders, with an insider noting that the king’s faith has provided him with “spiritual nourishment” and a willingness to mend their relationship.
“He still loves Harry and wants him back for personal reasons—regardless that he and Meghan do not [want to] return to royal life,” the source added.
Amid these tensions, Kate Middleton is reportedly also pushing for reconciliation. According to a royal source, Kate is “worried sick” about Harry and is willing to risk conflict with Prince William to advocate for forgiveness. Once close before Harry’s marriage to Meghan, Kate now sees him as a “lost soul” and is concerned about his well-being.
“Kate is worried sick about Harry and willing to risk the wrath of her husband and the Firm to do what she believes is the right thing,” the source shared. “She [is] pushing for forgiveness and worries the royals are being too harsh.”
