Michael Madsen, known for his roles in films such as “Donnie Brasco,” was arrested early Sunday morning at his Malibu home on charges of misdemeanor spousal battery, Fox News Digital has confirmed.
The 66-year-old actor was taken into custody and booked into the Malibu/Lost Hills sheriff’s station at 1:40 a.m., following an incident reported at his residence. Madsen was released shortly after posting a $20,000 bond.
The arrest followed a call to the sheriff’s department just after midnight, reporting a “family disturbance” in the upscale Malibu community. Lieutenant Adam Zeko, speaking to Fox News Digital, revealed that the caller, identified as a female adult, alleged that her husband had pushed her and then locked her out of their home.
“Based on the initial investigation, deputies determined Michael Madsen was involved in a domestic incident involving his wife. Mr. Madsen was arrested for misdemeanor spousal battery,” Zeko stated.
The misdemeanor charge violates Penal Code 243(e)(1), which involves the use of force or violence against a cohabitant. If convicted, Madsen could face up to one year in jail.
Lieutenant Zeko also confirmed that the investigation is ongoing and will be forwarded to the Van Nuys Superior Court House for potential filing.
A representative for Madsen told Fox News Digital that the actor is now at home.
Madsen has been married to his wife DeAnna since 1996, and the couple has three sons together. The family experienced a tragic loss in January 2022 when their son Hudson died by suicide. Madsen also has two sons and a daughter from his previous marriages.
This recent arrest is not Madsen’s first encounter with legal issues. In 2019, the actor was arrested for drunk driving after crashing his Land Rover into a pole in Malibu. He later pleaded no contest to misdemeanor drunk driving and was sentenced to four days in jail and five years probation.
The latest incident adds to a series of legal troubles for Madsen, raising concerns about the actor’s personal life and ongoing struggles. The case is expected to move forward as the investigation continues.
