A tragic incident unfolded in Orange County when 16-year-old David Anthony Vargas Acker was shot and killed by his girlfriend in the early hours of July 30. The shooting occurred just before 1 a.m. in the 1100 block of Easton Street, leaving a community in shock and two families devastated, told Fox 35 News.

According to the Orange County Sheriff’s Office, deputies arrived at the scene to find Acker suffering from a gunshot wound. He was immediately transported to the hospital, but despite medical efforts, he was pronounced dead upon arrival.

Investigators revealed that Acker had brought a gun to the home to show his girlfriend and another friend. The three teenagers were reportedly pointing the gun at each other and posing with it when the situation took a deadly turn. At one point, Acker’s girlfriend pointed the gun at him and, tragically, pulled the trigger, fatally shooting him.

Following a consultation with the State Attorney’s Office, detectives secured an arrest warrant for the 16-year-old girl. She was taken into custody on Wednesday and is now facing a charge of aggravated manslaughter of a child. The girl is currently being held at a juvenile detention center as the legal process unfolds.

The tragic death of David Anthony Vargas Acker has left his family and friends mourning an unimaginable loss. In the wake of the incident, a GoFundMe page has been established to help Acker’s family with funeral expenses, as they cope with the devastating aftermath of this senseless tragedy.

The case has served as a stark reminder of the dangers of firearms, especially in the hands of young people. The community remains in mourning as they grapple with the consequences of what appears to have been a terrible accident with irreversible consequences.
