Amid rising political tensions in the U.S., Prince Harry and Meghan Markle are reportedly racing to heal their rift with the royal family. According to royal expert Richard Eden, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex are “desperate enough” to repair their fractured relationship with the UK royals, with the situation reportedly linked to the upcoming U.S. elections.

Eden, writing in the Daily Mail, suggested that ongoing threats from Republican Presidential candidate Donald Trump have left the Sussexes feeling uneasy. Despite their public stance of distancing themselves from the UK due to security concerns and legal battles, Prince Harry and Meghan may be privately seeking reconciliation. Eden noted the Duke’s attempts to reach out to his ailing father, King Charles, and his repeated public expressions of love for his family as indicators of a desire to mend the year-long rift.

The expert believes that the couple’s change of heart is tied to sensitive timing. “It’s quite clear they are eager to begin mending the rift,” a former royal employee shared with Eden. In his op-ed, Eden suggested that the urgency might be driven by Trump’s looming threats.

Donald Trump, seeking a second term in the 2024 elections, is facing stiff competition from Democratic nominee Kamala Harris. Amid this political battle, Trump’s son labeled the Duke and Duchess of Sussex as “spoiled apples” and echoed his father’s claims that Harry could face deportation if the Republicans win in November. Trump has previously made comments about Harry’s estrangement from the royal family, and Eden believes these threats are pushing the Sussexes to seek reconciliation.

Harry is reportedly seeking UK citizenship while maintaining his life in California with Meghan and their children. However, his alleged drug use, which he candidly admitted to in his memoir “Spare,” has sparked scrutiny. Eric Trump, son of the former president, hinted at a potential future for the royal couple if his father returns to power, saying, “The institution of the Royal Family is beautiful and admired by many Americans. That should be protected”, told GB News.

Earlier, Donald Trump vowed to deport Harry if he lied about drug use on his visa application. This comes after Harry’s admissions about using cocaine, marijuana, and psychedelic drugs. A conservative think tank has sued the Department of Homeland Security to access Harry’s immigration records to verify his disclosures. While the Biden administration has refused to release these records, that stance could change if Trump regains the presidency.

As political pressures mount, the Sussexes may find themselves seeking a safer and more secure footing within their royal roots, potentially mending fences with the family they once distanced themselves from.
