Brad Pitt’s world has reportedly been rocked by the devastating bike crash involving his 20-year-old son, Pax Jolie-Pitt. The incident has brought to light the ongoing estrangement between Pitt and his son, with Pitt allegedly taking a swipe at his ex-wife, Angelina Jolie, over Pax riding a bike instead of a car.
The relationship between Pitt and Pax has been strained since a legal tussle between Pitt and Jolie began, following an alleged domestic violence incident on a private jet in 2016. Pax once branded Pitt as a “world-class a–hole,” exacerbating their estrangement.
“Brad is distraught and worried over Pax’s accident, but he is unable to reach him,” a source told the Daily Mail. “It is very upsetting to Brad whenever he hears of one of the kids being hurt, and he feels completely powerless because there is nothing that he can do at all.”
The source continued, “A father’s inclination would be to go to the hospital or to call him. He’s tried so many times, but the kids won’t take his calls. His hands are tied.”
Pitt’s alleged concerns arose after Pax was hospitalized due to an accident when his E-bike rammed into a car on the busy Los Feliz Blvd. around 5 PM on Monday in Los Angeles. Pax was reportedly approaching an intersection and was seemingly unaware of the car that had stopped at a red light. The driver of the car reportedly checked on Pax before the cops and paramedics arrived on the scene.
Pax, who was without a helmet at the time of the crash, was rushed to the hospital after complaining of hip pain and suffering a head injury. Medics initially feared a minor brain injury, but a source told the Daily Mail that “he remains in a stable condition” as his mom has been “by his side in hospital.”
Pitt reportedly expressed frustration over Pax’s choice of transportation, stating through an insider, “Brad doesn’t think that Pax should be driving a scooter without a helmet to begin with – he should have been in a car.”
The incident has further strained the already fraught relationship between Pitt and some of his children. Pax and his siblings have remained estranged from Pitt amid his legal battle with Jolie over the sale of her shares in their Miraval winery. Several of Pitt’s children have legally dropped “Pitt” from their names, reflecting the non-existent relationship they have with their father.
On Father’s Day in 2020, Pax slammed Pitt in a bitter online message, calling him an “a–hole” and an “awful human being.” Pax wrote, “You time and time again prove yourself to be a terrible and despicable person. You have no consideration or empathy toward your four youngest children who tremble in fear when in your presence.”
Amid their prolonged divorce battle, Jolie has been accused of weaponizing the children against Pitt. A source shared, “She has used the kids as a weapon against Brad … she has separated them from him.”
The insider further claimed, “There is a whole pattern: Any time he has a win in court, she hits back with something to do with the kids.”
Jolie reportedly wants Pitt to drop his multimillion-dollar lawsuit against her, which he filed in February 2022 over the sale of their Miraval wine business to a Russian oligarch, alleging a violation of a verbal agreement.
According to People, Jolie’s lawyer, Paul Murphy, asserted that Pitt’s demand for an expansive NDA was an attempt to “punish and control” Jolie and cover-up “his personal misconduct and abuse.”
“While Angelina again asks Mr. Pitt to end the fighting and finally put their family on a clear path toward healing, unless Mr. Pitt withdraws his lawsuit, Angelina has no choice but to obtain the evidence necessary to prove his allegations wrong,” Murphy concluded.
