Jennifer Lopez has reportedly decided to end her efforts to reconcile with Ben Affleck, according to a new report. Sources revealed that the 54-year-old singer’s attempts to salvage their failing marriage have reached a breaking point. An insider told RadarOnline, “she’s hit a wall when it comes to fixing things because he just isn’t reciprocating.”
The couple, who rekindled their romance and married in 2022 after a previous breakup, invested $60 million in a Beverly Hills mansion in June 2023. However, less than a year later, Ben allegedly left Jennifer and moved into a $100,000 per month apartment near his ex-wife, Jennifer Garner.
“At first JLo was willing to do anything to get him to come home, but it was just pointless,” the informant said. “She’s now telling friends she’s over trying.”
The source revealed that Jennifer has been striving to maintain amicable relations for the sake of their children while keeping a brave face during the publicized breakup. Jennifer’s 16-year-old twins, Emme and Max, whom she shares with ex-husband Marc Anthony, have bonded with Ben’s children, Violet, 18, Fin, 15, and Samuel, 12.
Despite the turmoil, Jennifer posted a Father’s Day message for Ben on social media on June 16, referring to him as “our hero.” However, the insider claimed that the post was merely a facade to mask the underlying tensions.
“It’s all about image right now, especially on her side, so posting that was calculated and not some sign they are working things out,” the source explained.
“She’s very clear she’s given up hoping for a miracle,” the insider added. “She’s said it didn’t work out but she’s not going to miss his bad habits like his chain smoking and junk food binges.”
Ben Affleck, the Oscar-winning “Argo” filmmaker, has been frequently spotted looking downcast, which the source attributed to his general disposition. “She likes to look on the bright side and is generally in a good mood, but Ben was bringing her down,” the insider noted. “Everyone in her life thinks she’s lucky to be free of him.”
Jennifer has also faced career challenges amid the divorce rumors. Her album “This Is Me… Now” and its corresponding documentary on her relationship with Ben received poor reviews, and her tour’s low ticket sales forced her to cancel. Nevertheless, according to People, the source stated that Jennifer is focusing on her future and exploring new opportunities.
“She’s reading scripts and getting a ton of offers, which is a real bright spot in all of this. And she’s spending a lot of time with her kids, just trying to make sure they come out of this okay.”
