A couple is accused of holding up a string of service stations in a ‘Thelma and Louise’ style crime spree.
Eleanor Rohana Ashford and her girlfriend Sarah Canceri allegedly stole cash and cigarettes from three service stations in Sydney, Australia.
The couple, both aged 23, were arrested in the early hours of Saturday and charged with three counts of robbery armed with a weapon.
Police allegedly seized number plates believed to be stolen, knives, an axe, money and cigarettes from the car the couple were travelling in, the Sunday Telegraph reports.
Parramatta Bail Court heard police were called to a service station in Sydney’s Moorebank suburb at around 11.45pm on Friday.
They had received reports of money and cigarettes allegedly being stolen by two people armed with an axe and knives.
Over the next hour and a half police were called out to reports of two further robberies at service station, with one employee allegedly being threatened with a hammer.
The pair were arrested at around 1.30am.
The court heard that Ashford’s father, who is prominent surgeon Dr Bruce Ashford, was willing to drive his daughter to Wollongong Police Station every day if she was granted bail.
But her bail application was withdrawn and she was remanded in custody to face Liverpool Local Court on May 19.
Canceri did not apply for bail and she will appear at Liverpool Local Court on Monday.
