When Trump was in office, NY Democrat Congresswoman Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez made it a habit to slam the administration for creating “concentration camps” at the border for migrant children. She even orchestrated an emotional photo-op in front of a fence, pretending she was at a migrant facility. She wasn’t.
The border crisis keeps getting worse ever since President Biden was inaugurated and ended the ‘Remain in Mexico’ policy. Border facilities are now overcrowded, and many of the illegal aliens are unaccompanied children.
So far, Fox News has identified two tweets by AOC addressing the situation.
On February 23rd, the Congresswoman wrote a tweet reacting to a Washington Post story titled “First Migrant Facility for Children Opens Under Biden.” To the story, she tweeted: “This is not ok, never has been ok, never will be ok – no matter the administration or party.”
On the same Twitter thread, she went on to say that the “DHS shouldn’t exist, agencies should be reorganized, ICE gotta go, ban-for-profit detention, create climate refugee status & more.”
The border crisis has been growing exponentially under Biden, with one administration official admitting that the US was set to encounter more migrants in the southwest border, than they have in the past 2 decades.
The Daily Wire notes:
“The Biden Border Crisis has been growing more troubling by the day… an internal leaked document from the Department of Homeland Security revealed that nearly a thousand child migrants have been kept in border detention facilities for longer than 10 days, which is far longer than the 72-hour maximum amount of time children are supposed to be housed in Customs and Border Protection custody.”
AOC’s comments have been mild, and she has failed to address the growing disaster the border has become in the past few weeks. She has also failed to address the millions of dollars traffickers are making by transporting people to the border.
However, that should not surprise us. AOC has no interest in making anyone south of the border take some responsibility for their problems. She would much rather blame racism and continue to indirectly encourage cartels to make a business out of bringing people into the United States.
On Monday, the New York Post published an article reporting that a group of Democrats, including Ilhan Omar, will head to the border to witness the crisis. So far, it remains unclear if AOC plans on attending.
