‘Beautiful’ woman dies after being hit by ’17 year-old driving Lamborghini at 120mph’

A woman has died after her car was hit by a “17-year-old in a Lamborghini doing 120 miles per hour”.

Monique Munoz’s family said she was a “beautiful, accomplished woman” who dreamed of going to law school.

The 32-year-old secretary died after her Lexus was hit side-on by a Lamborghini travelling at excessive speed on a West Los Angeles highway in California in the United States on Wednesday evening.

Police were called to Olympic Boulevard and Overland Avenue just after 5pm, where they found a male teenager behind the wheel of the luxury car.

Munoz, whose silver mangled Lexus was next to the Lamborghini, was pronounced dead at the scene, while the teenager was rushed to hospital with head injuries.

Her stepfather Isaac Cardona said: “The child had a heart of gold, never hurt anybody, did everything right.

“Kid’s racing down the street in a Lamborghini, 17 years old in a Lamborghini doing 120 miles per hour, hits and kills her. Senseless.”

She was described by her family as being a kind person with her life tragically cut short by a reckless driver – and who wanted to go to law school.

A GoFundMe page started by her family to cover funeral fees described Munoz as a “beautiful, accomplished woman [that] was the heart and happiness of her family”.

The GoFundMe page went on to describe Munoz as someone who “only had love and kindness in her heart”.

It added the family is “all in shock and finding it impossible to fathom the reality of her unexpected passing.”

The appeal has since raised more than $32,000 (£22.8k) of its $20,000 (£14.3k) goal.

Cardona however said they want to see the full extent of the law placed on the teen boy.

“I want him prosecuted to the full extent of the law,” he said. The teen has not been arrested.
