Tell us what you think about coronavirus vaccine – and when we’ll get back to normal

The potential for a coronavirus vaccine in the UK within weeks has sparked great hope – and we want to know what Mirror readers think of the development.

The Coronavirus Vaccine survey, launched by The Mirror and other media outlets, will paint a detailed picture of readers’ mood when it comes to the jab.

It was announced this week that Pfizer and BioNTech’s vaccine was successful at protecting 90% of people from Covid-19.

The news has helped many to see a light at the end of the tunnel after months of social distancing and lockdowns.

And we want to you to tell us how the news has made you feel, who should get priority for a jab and how quickly our lives will get back to normal – it will take just a couple of minutes.

Have your say by taking part in the survey

Last week Jon Findlay, head of Guy’s and St Thomas’ NHS Foundation Trust, said that a vaccine could be distributed before the end of the month.

It would be available first for care home residents, the over-80s and frontline healthcare staff.

Which group should get the jab next is a live issue.

The plans from the government suggest people will be given it in order of age priority, based on older people being at greater risk.

But some have argued younger working-age people should get it first to kickstart the country’s economic recovery quicker.

The current plan, known as “phase one” is:

  • People living and working in care homes
  • Then those over 80, then over 75, over 70, over 65 and over 60
  • Then adults, but not children, with a health condition that puts them at greater risk
  • Then people aged over 55 and finally those over 50

There has not yet been a decision made on when to vaccinate healthy adults aged under 50.

Downing Street has said the nation had already ordered 40million doses of the Pfizer jab, 10million of which will be “available to the UK by the end of the year if the vaccine is approved by the regulators.”
