MODERN MUSE: Angelina Jolie is the muse of Guerlain’s upcoming new women’s fragrance. Thierry Wasser, the LVMH Moët Hennessy Louis Vuitton-owned beauty brand’s perfumer, gleaned inspiration from Jolie as a person for the project. The house said the scent is meant to express “the idea of the ‘notes of a woman’ – the choices, emotions and dreams that embody modern femininity.” “We create perfumes for the women we admire,” Jacques Guerlain, who conceived such iconic scents for Guerlain as Shalimar, L’Heure Bleue and Mitsouko, once stated.

Jolie and Guerlain agreed on working together in Cambodia in December 2015, when she was directing the movie “First They Killed My Father.” Jolie had known the brand since childhood, as her mother used its powder. The actress, filmmaker and activist – who serves as a special envoy of the United Nations Refugee Agency and is cofounder of the Preventing Sexual Violence Initiative – is donating her salary for the Guerlain advertising campaign to charity.
