This is getting curiouser and curiouser. First there was their big night out in New York and now Robert Pattinson and Katy Perry have been spotted watching a wedding rehearsal in Santa Barbara together. The Twilight Saga hunk and the Firework singer – who are both single since splitting from Kristen Stewart and John Mayer respectively – puzzled onlookers when they were spotted checking out the wedding rehearsal of two strangers at San Ysidro Ranch, not far from where Katy grew up.
Rehearsal guest Stephanie Sands told People.com: ‘Katy and Rob were just sitting next to each other watching the wedding rehearsal in the main courtyard area. They were dressed very casually. ‘She was wearing a hoodie and big sunglasses. There was no PDA [public display of affection] between them and no body language that showed they were dating. ‘They just sat together and watched. ‘They were not affiliated with the wedding party and were not seen mingling with guests.’
The 27-year-old British actor dumped his former Twilight Saga co-star, 23- who had a brief fling with married director Rupert Sanders last summer – recently after more than four years together because his friends, including the Firework singer, reportedly told him that he deserves better. A source told Life & Style magazine that Perry, 28, was never a fan of the reconciliation: ‘Katy never really supported Rob’s decision to get back with Kristen. She always said they wouldn’t last.
‘Katy told Rob she didn’t think their relationship could withstand the cheating scandal. And he deserved better than someone who would destroy a family [like Rupert’s].’ Despite the couple managing to patch things up after a two-month break following Kristen’s ‘momentary indiscretion’ with Rupert last year, it is thought their relationship is over for good this time after Rob was spotted moving his belongings out of her home in Los Feliz last Sunday, where they both lived over the last few months.
A large moving truck picked up the last of his belongings on Thursday. A source previously said: ‘After everything that happened and the hurt she caused, he’s furious she’d be back in touch with him, even if she is saying it’s completely innocent. ‘It does look like this it’s over for good. He simply can’t trust her.’ It was recently claimed Robert has never been happier since splitting with Kristen. A source said: ‘Rob has never felt so free. He no longer has to feel weighted by a girlfriend. Instead of being bummed that his relationship hit a wall, Rob is simply glad to only have to be in charge of himself.’
‘Through the years, Kristen definitely became too dependent on him. ‘Kristen keeps blowing up his phone but he’s not trying to get dragged back into the past, so he’s not really picking up.’ At the beginning of the month, the British actor and Katy Perry were spotted enjoying a Daughter concert at the Bowery in New York together. It was reported that Kristen was unhappy about the public outing, and that it prompted the final argument that rendered the pair asunder. Perry dealt with a turbulent split from her now ex-husband Russell Brand last year, so should know a few things about helping a friend cope with the same fallout.
