Everyday Health for Women

A balanced diet and regular exercise are important to stay healthy. Most people pick up bad habits or are caught up in their daily lives so much that they end up neglecting their health. If you think your health is being neglected due to certain lifestyle changes or due to your workload, you need to start thinking about how you can improve your health by following some everyday health tips.

1. Exercise regularly – Exercise is extremely important for a healthy heart, to lose body fat and to stay fit. Even if you do not find time to go to the gym, simply moving around and keeping yourself mobile will help you a lot. Climb stairs instead of taking the elevator, play with your kids, do chores around the home, like cleaning or mowing the lawn whenever possible.

2. Eat healthy – Fried foods, burgers, and other fast foods should be avoided. Eat fruits, vegetables, salads and green leafy vegetables instead. Dairy products are also healthy and low fat cheese, milk and cream should be incorporated in your daily diet. Restrict the intake of fatty foods like butter, margarine and mayonnaise in your diet.

3. Drink more water – Drinking at least 8 glasses of water every day is considered healthy. Our body needs water on daily basis to carry out all the body functions properly. Lack of water or dehydration can lead to dizziness, headaches, fatigue and mood swings, so make sure you drink 8 glasses of water every day. Water also helps cleanse the body of different toxins and keeps your skin supple and fresh.

4. Quit SmokingSmoking is very harmful for health and although it can be very difficult to quit for some people, you must try harder. Decide that you want to quit for good and then stick to it. Get help from your friends and relatives and use the different products available in the market these days that can help you quit smoking.

5. Avoid Drinking – Just like smoking, drinking is also bad for your health. Drinking alcohol not only increases your calorie intake but it also damages your liver. A long term effect of excessive drinking can be liver cancer. Avoid drinking regularly; only one drink over the weekend should be enough if you want to stay healthy.

6. Sleep well – A good night’s sleep is necessary to rejuvenate and repair your body. If you sleep less at night, your body will not restore back to its optimal function. 6 – 8 hours of sleep is necessary for adults to feel refreshed and to improve your body function. Taking enough sleep will boost your energy and also improve your mood and appearance.
7. Reduce Stress – Stress is a common factor which affects almost everyone. Whether you are at home or at work, there are many factors which can cause stress for you. Experts recommend that you use stress busting techniques to avoid stress, such as by going for a walk in the park, reading a book, watching your favorite TV channel or listening to music. Some people meditate to reduce their stress levels while others meet friends to have a good time.

8. Protect yourself from Pollution – Pollution can affect your health in many ways. The most common type of pollution that can affect you is air pollution which has both short-term and long-term effects. Avoid smoke-filled rooms and high traffic areas as they have a lot of air pollution. Walking and exercising near busy highways is also not good, so the best solution is to exercise indoors in air conditioning.

9. Stay Optimistic – A cheerful outlook on life will make everything feel good. Be happy and optimistic and enjoy life to the fullest!
