Lady Gaga: ‘Kanye West Deserves Support’

Lady Gaga

The Stronger hitmaker was admitted to the University of California, Los Angeles Medical Center on Monday (21Nov16) for a psychiatric evaluation, and is said to be receiving treatment for exhaustion and sleep deprivation. His medical emergency emerged just hours after his representatives cancelled the remaining dates on his Saint Pablo Tour, and many celebrity friends and fans flocked to social media to send their support and prayers to Kanye. Now Lady Gaga has added her thoughts in a candid series of posts on Twitter. “It’s not funny to joke about anyone’s possible or not possible mental illness, this is a sensitive time for many,” she writes. “Let’s be kind & loving.”

“While I don’t agree with everything he does I hope the public shows compassion and (love) for @kanyewest and each other,” she adds. “One love. One Race.” “@kanyewest i support & love u (sic) brother, I see in you bravery & courage to stop this tour & take care of YOU,” she continues. “You are a GREAT artist.” The 30-year-old recently opened up about her own struggles with fame, revealing her huge success left her traumatised earlier on in her career and she had to rely on medication. “I needed a moment to stabilise,” she told Britain’s Daily Mirror newspaper. “When my career took off, I don’t remember anything at all. It’s like, I’m traumatised. I needed time to recalibrate my soul. “I take medication,” she continued. “I’m not saying I feel good because of the medication – I wouldn’t encourage young people to take anti-depressants or mood stabilisers. I openly admit to having battled depression and anxiety and I think a lot of people do. I think it’s better when we all say, ‘Cheers!’ And ‘fess up to it.”
